The LUZIA EPICURUS photography course holiday in Cadiz, Spain

Perfect for the aficionado of life and photography, we’re located in a beautiful place, far from the tourist resorts; LUZIA is based in one of the oldest civilized cities in the world, on the Atlantic coast, Costa de la Luz. We enjoy the perfect combination of a small, beautiful city, golden Blue Flag beaches, and varied countryside with magical hidden pearls, and all you can wish for when it comes to locations and light. We have insider knowledge and we know where the food is good – as well as where it’s not! We know when the blazing sun hits a certain location and when the tide is high or low.

The LUZIA EPICURUS photography holiday celebrates beauty and enjoyment of life!

This course is named after the philosopher Epicurus. We can’t claim he was a local, but he could have been! The culture of eating and drinking in Cadiz is tremendously important. Epicurus was not only about pleasure-seeking in the hedonistic form, and he believed the way to attain pleasure was to live modestly and to gain knowledge of the workings of the world and the limits of one’s desires. And here you will be, absorbing the culture of the Cadiz city and region, as you’re learning about photography. You’ll be surrounded by beautiful locations, with the opportunity for some botanical and garden photography as well as capturing some lifestyle photo scenarios.

The EPICURUS course is a real mix of enjoyment, food & drink and photography, in the company of like-minded people. We enjoy food and then shoot it – or the other way round! We eat and drink in restaurants and bars and bodegas, ranging from the local authentic to the higher end gourmet restaurants. Most of the food we sample is locally sourced and much of it is organic.

All our excursion locations are visually stunning.

This allows for great portraits, landscapes, gardens and gastronomical photography. LUZIA is right in the heart of Flamenco-land, so we like to take you to see some authentic local song and dance. We also visit our neighbour Jerez – Spanish for Sherry or Sanclucar de Barramenda, where you will enjoy a  Fino or two, and the opportunity to visit a Moroccan Hammam – quite similar to a Turkish bath, with amazing decor and ambience.

All along the way, we take pictures, and we bring equipment that we can easily set up on location.
